ROLE OF THE TEACHING DEVELOPMENT GRADUATE ASSISTANT (TDGA)
The Teaching Development Graduate Assistant (TDGA) Program is a joint project of CST and the Faculty of Graduate Studies designed to facilitate teaching development and excellence at the departmental level. Events organized by TDGAs help participants in the University Teaching Practicum to complete the requirement of five hours of study specific to their own discipline.

The mission of the CST is to enhance the quality of students’ learning and experience. They provide leadership and support for evidence-informed development of teaching and curriculum, and advocacy for policies to foster excellence and innovation in teaching and learning.
The mandate of the CST is to assist individuals, units and Faculties in improving student learning at York University. The CST mandate is achieved through the provision of innovative and comprehensive programming, the promotion of academic planning priorities in the area of teaching and learning, and collaborations to develop resources to help instructors enhance students’ learning and academic experience at York University.

CST offers an ongoing series of teaching and learning seminars, workshops, and public lectures for faculty members and teaching assistants at all levels of experience. A schedule of all CST workshops has been posted in the studio arts grad kitchen area.

Not all 2009/2010 Fine Arts workshops have been scheduled yet but you will be notified as soon as the dates, times and topics are solidified. Your suggestions for Fine Arts related teaching workshops are welcome!

THE UNIVERSITY TEACHING PRACTICUM

The University Teaching Practicum is a self-directed program of professional development in university teaching and learning for graduate students. Candidates register for the Practicum with the CST and gain recognition from the Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies for (1) attending selected teaching and learning workshops; (2) engaging in a systematic program of teaching development, and (3) preparing a teaching dossier.
